I finally was able to make my beans into magic! Like Jack and the beanstalk! Little onion here, little tomato, jalapeno, a little garlic and cilantro...

Because on the contrary to what my wonderful husband thinks... good refried beans don't just happen. I giggled when my husband assumed that delicious beans just came straight out of the crockpot. I mean, the crockpot is just one part of the process. It saves on the cooking time for sure...
But my momma was the true genious when it came to beans. She taught me so much about the litle secrets that make beans so delicious. Like a rite of passage or something...A mexican girl has gotta know her beans!!! Of course, the only thing I'm leaving out is the non-nutritious element that made them so delicious...which is LARD!!! ahoooy!
I've made mine with a little canola oil instead..left out the clog artering element, but hey a girl can't get everything she wants!!! My version are not as yummy as my mother's, but equally satisfying...especially when a girl needs to stay in her jeans!!
P.S. Just watch out for the tooting!!!

my mother in law makes the BEST beans, I don't even try to make them because my husband will always compare them to hers and I'll never nail it... so I make him cookies instead. :)
lol, you know I told my husband once and I never had to repeat myself... that I could make beans like his momma, but that i did not guarantee him not having hypertension, diabetes, and CAD by the age of 50. He quietly said my beans were PRETTY DAMN GOOD for being HEALTHY! lol
I'm not much of a baker, but I have some tricks up my sleeve! I'm really digging Pillsbury Sugar free cakes, and spicing them up with reduced sugar JAM in between 2cakes! or injecting cupcakes with delicious jam!!!
I'm a little obssessed with healthy eating due to the fact that both my husband and I have strong links to diabetes from both our families, so I work extra hard to make typical recipes into healthy messes; of course plenty of good outcomes, while some are EPIC failures! hahaha
I've been reading some of your recipes and I'm excited to try them and tweak some of them!!
P.S. you should give beans another try! have you tried using the crock pot?
