spirit of productivity.

My niece had her winter ballet recital tonight. She is truly a wonderful child. Simple, loving, sweet, funny and very bright. But who doesn't say that about their nieces or children? Regardless, the energy she transmitts is part of my mother's legacy; which warms and holds my soul during the lonely periods of my life. I am so happy my mother was able to experience the love of this child before her passing. My mind grasps that memory and doesn't let it go....These last two days have been wonderful. Enjoying the company of my so missed sister in law from pittsburgh, my days off, my wonderful husband, and my family. Fearful of the upcoming stress of the holidays and the anxiety it may bring....One day at a time, I hope... Want to stay productive from here until school starts up again in the spring. I will get things done, cook some food, write my mexican memoirs, and clean mi casa! Yup.

Simple things, simple life, happy self.

I've been watching Netflix series non stop. I am truly enjoying this short, but delicious freedom in between school semesters. I shall rejoice the time I have doing what I do best... hanging out, cooking, loving, eating, and sunshine! The reality of things is that we should enjoy the simple things; the moments we expect to make us the least happiest, such as reading a book, or watching a tv show with a blanket and your favorite pillow. Being home brings so much comfort, so much innner peace and that is why it is important to keep the home sacred and by no means is this in a religious manner; but of course if religion proves to make your home sacred then by full means go ahead. Sacred. Full hearted. Peaceful, loving and warm. Good energy only; so this is why one shall surrounded ourself by the people and the things that make us the happiest. Leaving out insecurities, games, and people that don't deserve us. We all deserve to be happy and we should use the tools that we own to open up a path to a brighter day and future. Good energy, happy self.

food for thought

I think I got the love of cooking from my mother. Despite how poor we where growing up, we always had a warm plate of food every night. Every plate that was placed in front of my brother and I was so dynamic and almost alive and about to tell a story. A story of passion, wonder, and strength. Cooking dishes today for my own family makes me feel full of wonder and nevertheless closer to my mother more than ever now that she has passed... She was so selfless, and willing to put her own self to make us happy and keep us as together as a family...I miss her everyday and wonder if this emptiness will ever go away.... Nevertheless, even if this emptiness never dissapears, I know now that my love for cooking will bring me closer to the memory of my mother; an unselfish, kind soul. Also, new answers are present in my mind. One is that I love to food and cooking. It is one of my passions in life, along with my nursing profession. I will aim to share my love of food with others...in hopes that it will heal other hearts as well...
